Guacamole, or Guac as my stoner friends like to call it, is one of the most popular dips in the world, and it’s pretty easy to see why. I mean have you tried the thing? IT’S AMAZING. It also happens to be a low-carber/ketoer’s dream, if said person is trying to get more healthy fats into their day. With this Keto Guacamole Recipe, I tried to push it as far as I could.
We all know that Guacamole can be so different from one cook to the other, and this version has all of the things that I love about Guacamole. ALL THE THINGS.
The Mentioned Things
A classic Guacamole is usually made with avocados, cilantro, chillies, red onions, lime juice and of course tomatoes. Tomatoes … I love them, I just don’t see why they should be in Guacamole. In my experience they tend to water down the entire thing and take away from that amazing creaminess that makes Guacamole what it is.
Also, I had a couple of massive Caribbean avocados and I automatically thought “Guacamole”. If you don’t know what Caribbean Avocados are, go find them in your super market, you’re in for a treat.
My Keto Guacamole Recipe
The ideal Guacamole in my world, is a dip that is conceived to make the mighty avocado shine. That being said, having hot peppers, onions and tomatoes kind of makes the avocado a little less dominant.
That is why, I swapped the red onions for green onions, the chillies for cayenne powder and tomatoes …. well they were used in a salsa, where they belong.
In addition to that, I add some full-fat sour cream to make this Guacamole even more creamier and balance the acidity of the lime juice. It was amazing. I finally found my perfect guacamole recipe.
I hope that you will love it too, and if you don’t, then make a few swaps of your own and let me know how it worked out for you in the comment section.
One of my favourite things is to read how people have used my recipes and turned them into something completely different. Of course if you decide to do that, you must share it with me on Instagram @broke_foodies
